Butcher’s Machine Restoration – Is It Even Possible to Save This Beast?

In this video, I restored an old, rusty Diamant butchery machine, made in the late 1800s in Germany. This project was both challenging and rewarding, especially toward the end when the restoration process was completed! The machine was in terrible condition, full of cracks, past repairs, and a severely damaged stand riddled with holes. I was genuinely worried it might fall apart if I moved it too much. But despite all that, I knew it was worth saving. About the restoration process: Throughout the restoration, I deepened my knowledge of cast iron welding and also discovered fascinating details about the machine itself. At one point, after removing an old brass bushing, I noticed something handwritten inside. I carefully heated the piece to prevent cracking and gently unfolded it, and there it was: the name Brzezin elegantly written. The machine also bears the inscription "Diamant 20 Ltr" on its upper tank, further confirming its German origin. This machine weighs approximately 150 kg (330 lbs) and is undoubtedly the largest and most challenging restoration I’ve ever undertaken, but I’m thrilled I had the opportunity to bring it back to life! At the end of the video, I run a test so you can see it in action again, after all these years! The machine can be used as a fruit press, a lard press, and, as you will see, as a sausage maker.
