Clean and Service Lakewood HV-9 9" High Velocity Fan
How to clean and service a Lakewood HV-9 all metal 9" high velocity fan. These were sold during the early 2010s for around $12. These were very popular at the time and are very good fans; good build quality and good performance. If kept in good condition, these will run for many hours. Here we will fully disassemble the fan, clean the blades and guard with melamine foam, clean the dust out of the motor, lubricate the bearings, align the blade to reduce vibration, and reassemble the unit. These are very easy to work on with the exception of the initial removal of the screws. The screws were put on unreasonably tight at the factory and can be extremely difficult to remove. Sometimes the screws are so tight I've even had screwdriver bits break when trying to remove them.
