Reading the 2001 Home Depot Ceiling Fan Selection Guide

Reading through the 2001 The Home Depot ceiling fan selection guide and discussing some of the nostalgia elements, anomalies, and design trends featured in the guide. These guides are very rare, few consumers kept them over the years and there's only a few known copies circulating among collectors. I have the ones from 2001 through 2008, when the stopped appearing at the local stores here. I'm not sure if there were any prior to 2001; if there are, I've never seen or heard about them. This is probably the most nostalgic piece of fan media to me. I vividly remember acquiring this in the Summer of 2001. This was the only material related to fans that I had at the time. There were no ceiling fan videos on YouTube, the forums were starting to exist but I did not have Internet access at the time, I didn't know anyone else who was interested in ceiling fans, so this was all there was. I read it over and over. I spent countless hours looking through this booklet in the 2000s. I remember going to the The Home Depot every year afterwards and being particularly excited about the new version to come out. It's amazing how different the interior design concepts represented in this book is, even though it was only a couple decades ago. Styles were present that would still be considered 'modern' by today's standards, yet there were also still styles from decades prior. There was consumer choice. You had so many different models, styles, and colors to choose from -- a concept that's just gone with today's interior design.
