Retirement has given me the gift of appreciating life’s simple moments. Today began with a heartfelt surprise from my children, a thoughtful gift in appreciation of my community work in the village. Their kindness reminded me that serving others leaves a lasting impact. The day continued with a warm cup of homemade lemongrass tea and boiled maize, followed by caring for my home through laundry and dressing the cushions. I also spent time feeding my cat before ending the day the old-fashioned way, chewing fresh sugar cane and enjoying the quiet rhythm of village life. Slow living isn’t about doing less. It’s about doing what matters with gratitude, purpose, and peace.
