Today, a verdict was announced in Karaganda in a high-profile case involving the attempted murder of Zangar Khasenov. He has been identified as the leader of an organized crime group. The crime occurred when Zangar Khasenov was leaving the parking lot of the Invivo Clinic in southeast Karaganda in a BMW X6. At that moment, gunfire erupted. Zangar Khasenov was unharmed. He drove the BMW into oncoming traffic to escape the gunfire. The VAZ collided with another car, after which it fled. Zangar Khasenov turned around and pursued the other car. Police later announced that they had detained a group of suspects. They were charged not only with organizing and carrying out the assassination attempt on Zangar Khasenov, but also with the theft of fuel and lubricants from the Kazakhmys Corporation in Kentobe. According to investigators, the theft of gasoline was the source of an alleged conflict of interest between Zangar Khasenov and the defendants. Unprecedented security measures were put in place in court today. A special bus was brought in to assist the escort service. Additional police officers were also deployed. Officers were stationed throughout the courtroom to prevent conflict after the verdict was announced. The defendants' lawyers maintain their clients are innocent—they claim there was no theft. The diesel locomotives are equipped with sensors, and any theft of fuel and lubricants at Kazakhmys would have been easily traceable. The lawyers submitted a request to Kazakhmys, and they responded that no theft occurred during the period for which the defendants are accused. Regarding the attempt on Zangar Khasenov's life, the lawyers view it as hooliganism and claim that it was committed by others, not the defendants. The defendants stated that they were tortured and beaten in an attempt to extract confessions. "The hearings were held behind closed doors. Why?" "Arman Kukumbayev is found guilty under Articles 191, Part 3, 262, Part 2, 287, Part 5, and 24-99, Part 2 of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 21 years' imprisonment in a maximum security facility. Kukumbayev's actions are deemed a dangerous repeat offense. Talgat Abishev is found guilty under Articles 262, Part 1, 287, Part 5, and 24-99, Part 2, and sentenced to 18 years' imprisonment in a medium-security facility. Acquitted under Part 2 of Article 287 of the Criminal Code. Daniyar Kaysarov is found guilty under Articles 262, Part 1, 287, Part 5, and 24-99, Part 2, and sentenced to 18 years' imprisonment in a medium-security facility.
