Andrew & Abby Borden were brutally murdered in their own home, the murder weapon suspected to be an old hatchet. There were approximately 40 hatchet wounds shared between the couple. This wasn't just a murder, it was a deadly massacre. The murderer was suspected to be none other than their own daughter, Lizzie Borden. She was suspected for a variety of reasons but was never charged. Is Lizzie Borden guilty of the axe murders that took place in her home in 1892? Or was she an innocent bystander who suffered a devastating loss? Some believe the murderer was Lizzie's own uncle, John Morse. There is plenty of circumstantial evidence that suggests John Morse had more than enough motive to commit the murders. Did John strike down his own family? Or was he just in the wrong place at the wrong time? Others believe that the family maid, Bridget "Maggie" Sullivan, may have known more than she lead investigators to believe. She testified in court during the trial claiming that Lizzie was innocent. After the trial she fled to Montana, Sullivan never returned to Fall River and never spoke of the trial again. Did Bridget cover for Lizzie? Or does she know who really committed the murders?
