The Bellaire house was built by Jacob Heatherington 172 years ago. Jacob owned all the coal mines in Ohio. In 1893, in a tragic mining accident, 42 men lost their lives. It took days to recover their bodies. In later years, Edwin and Lyde, Jacob's grandchildren, were given the home to make their own. Not long after, Lyde unexpectedly passed away. Her body lay by the fireplace, her life gone in an instant. Devastated, Edwin then tried to reach out to his sister in any way, shape or form. Edwin allowed psychics, mediums and seers into his home in an attempt to communicate with Lyde’s spirit. Upon doing so, he was opening the house up to the spiritual world. Rumor has it that there could be as many as 17 ACTIVE portals the house to this day. From being built on a ley line, to being part of the Underground Railroad, to being a battle ground between the French soldiers and Indigenous tribes, the land itself is a conduit for paranormal activity. There are also said to be sacred caves behind the home, where many indigenous men, women and children have been laid to rest. So is this house really as haunted as the rumours suggest?
