We introduce two innovative 'carbon upcycling' technologies that revive carbon dioxide and fallen leaves, which would otherwise be discarded as waste, into valuable resources. The first is a technology that converts carbon dioxide captured from factories and power plants into useful gasoline by reacting it with hydrogen. High-efficiency catalyst technology is utilized to lower activation energy for the stable decomposition of carbon dioxide, and the key challenge for future commercialization is the production of affordable and eco-friendly green hydrogen. The second is a technology that extracts nanocellulose from discarded fallen leaves and mixes it with an eco-friendly polymer (PVA) to create bioplastic films. As true upcycling that does not compete with food resources, it possesses UV-blocking capabilities and tough properties, making it highly valuable for applications such as agricultural mulching films that are completely biodegradable in nature.
