Plié Barre Combination | Forward Facing, Easy to Follow for Adult Beginners
Pliés are one of the most important foundational movements in ballet and today I’m sharing my favorite go-to plié combination for beginners. I love this one because it’s incredibly versatile. You can do it facing the barre with two hands for added stability, or once you’ve built strength and control, you can work up to doing it in the center without the barre. This combination focuses on demi and grand pliés in 1st and 2nd position, which are the safest and most accessible positions for beginners. In these positions, the knees travel in a straight line over the toes, making it easier to feel proper alignment. Grand plié in 5th requires more strength and awareness, so we work up to that over time. A gentle stretch is included within the combination, and a balance at the end ties everything together helping you feel grounded, lengthened, and centered as you continue your barre work. In this combination we will tackle: 💙 Demi and grand pliés in 1st and 2nd position 💙 A gentle cambré to the side, integrated into the combination 💙 Demi pliés in 5th position 💙 A simple moment to feel the rotation of the hips—both turning in and out 💙 A balanced finish to help you feel centered and connected before moving on in your barre 00:00 Introduction 00:24 Combination breakdown 2:13 Combination with music 3:36 Final thoughts I’d love to hear from you!
