Cuban Afro-Contemporary by Ana LLorente | The Cuban Technique

What if I told you there’s a technique that blends Afro-Cuban roots, ballet, and modern dance into one powerful system? This is Cuban Afro-Contemporary, or Modern Dance a beginner-level class I taught in Atlanta. Cuban contemporary dance is deeply rooted in Afro-Cuban traditions. It combines grounded, rhythmic movement with the structure of classical ballet and modern techniques previously developed in Europe and the United States. This fusion is what we call the "Cuban technique" a unique and highly structured system recognized around the world. I am a former dancer of the National Contemporary/Modern Dance Company of Cuba, where this technique is a fundamental part of the training preparing dancers to perform at a professional level in major companies.
