The 2027 Hyundai Elantra (sold as the Avante in South Korea) introduces a dramatic eighth-generation redesign built around Hyundai's new "Art of Steel" design philosophy. Unveiled at the 2026 Busan Mobility Show, the sedan abandons the sharp creases of the outgoing model in favor of cleaner, more muscular bodywork with slab-sided panels, pronounced fenders, and a lower, more aggressive front fascia. The styling reflects Hyundai's latest design language first seen on the Initium concept and new Nexo. Beyond its fresh appearance, the new Elantra grows in overall length, width, and wheelbase, resulting in a significantly roomier cabin that Hyundai says approaches midsize-sedan dimensions. Inside, the car adopts Hyundai's latest Pleos Connect infotainment system and introduces Gleo AI, an artificial intelligence-powered digital assistant for the Korean market, offering a more advanced connected-car experience. South Korean buyers will be able to choose between a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and an updated 1.6-liter hybrid powertrain, with the hybrid receiving a slight increase in horsepower over the current model. Hyundai has not yet announced U.S.-market powertrains, pricing, or availability. The Elantra remains one of Hyundai's most important global products. Since debuting in the U.S. in 1992, it has been a consistent sales success, and U.S. sales through May 2026 were up 4 percent year-over-year to 64,660 units.
