Les nouveaux visages du ménage - reportage intégral

You've probably seen those portraits of male and female cleaners posing on posters like movie stars, unless it's Jacqueline playing herself in an ad for another home services company. They are the new faces of this long-undervalued profession, which is now inspiring vocations and even career changes. At 28, Glawdys chose to leave her job managing a donut shop to become a cleaner with a permanent contract. "With €2,000 a month, I earn a better living and I can manage my own schedule." Thanks to government subsidies that cut the cost of a cleaner in half, this service is no longer reserved for the privileged. The market is booming: up 7% last year. Demand is so high that some cleaners are starting their own micro-enterprises to become their own boss. On social media, ads are proliferating, offering these services to individuals or owners of vacation rentals. But behind this often-publicized success lies a darker side. The explosion of tourism platforms is giving rise to an ultra-flexible, precarious, and sometimes illegal sub-market of housekeeping, lacking employment contracts and social security protections. Tetiana and Oksana, housekeepers working for a subcontractor of one of these tourism platforms, learned this the hard way and filed a complaint against their former employer. Envoyé Spécial was present at the trial. Between the valorization and the "uberization" of housekeeping, between recognition and exploitation, this investigation examines the new faces of a sector undergoing profound transformation.
