At Gympie North, a quiet platform can actually be quite busy at certain times of the day.

At Gympie North railway station, things seem quiet at first—just a single platform and a few tracks. But this station is the modern gateway to the region, linking local TransLink services with long-distance trains like the Tilt Train and Spirit of the Outback. It replaced Gympie’s original station, built in 1881 during the gold rush, when rail was the lifeline of the town. That earlier station sat in the heart of Gympie and served the community for over a century before the line was rerouted and this station opened in 1989. Around the platform, ancient rock from the Gympie Terrane tells a much older story—formed 300 to 260 million years ago from volcanic activity and ocean sediments. Today, modern trains pass through a landscape shaped long before railways ever arrived. Out and about with me as I share my exploring and discovery of new places. I enjoy the creative outlet of filming and editing my videos, researching, planning, filming, editing and work towards a weekly upload schedule. I aim to keep the camera rolling no matter what the situation is. My opinions are my own. Let me know if you have any recommendations for future video content.
