Filling, Sanding & a Plaster Disaster | Episode 7

Episode 7 of our renovation series and the pressure is really starting to build… With carpet fitting day getting closer and closer, we were in full panic mode trying to get the bedrooms ready in time. This week was full of the less glamorous renovation jobs — endless sanding, filling dents and imperfections, scraping and washing off the final horrible bits of wallpaper paste, and trying to make everything look vaguely presentable before the carpets arrived. We also finally got some paint onto the walls in my office which honestly felt like a massive morale boost after weeks of prep work. But then came the plaster disaster… We convinced ourselves that skimming the walls would be quicker and easier than properly filling everything first. Turns out we were VERY wrong 😅 What started as a “time-saving” idea quickly turned into one of the most stressful parts of the renovation so far. On top of that, we also went back to repair and fill dents in the first ceiling we ever plastered ourselves — which definitely showed us how much we’ve still got to learn. By the end of the week, the reality of how much work we still had left to do before carpet day properly hit me and I definitely had a bit of a low moment. Renovating a house while racing deadlines is no joke. Thankfully we had some last-minute help from some absolute legends. Huge thanks to Ben (Jack’s brother) for stepping in and helping us push through at the final hour, and also Ollie and Jordan for helping with filling, extra jobs around the house, and filming some different angles for the video!
