There was a sidewalk almost completely buried under dirt, to the point where you couldn't even tell it was there. So we walked up and knocked on the door. The homeowner answered, and when we told him we'd love to dig the whole thing out and clean it up completely free of charge, he had almost no hesitation in saying yes. He told us he'd been here a couple of years and it had been buried that entire time, and from what he said, it had probably looked like that since he walked these streets as a kid. So we got started, and right away we realized we were in over our heads. The concrete underneath was all broken up, and our shovels kept hitting chunks of it as we dug. On top of that, roots had grown straight through the cracks, so we had to cut our way through as we went. Luckily, our Hotsy pressure washer made that part a lot easier. A lot of people think the water just turns it into a muddy mess, and yeah, it gets messier, but that turbo nozzle cuts right through the roots and breaks down the soil so we can scoop it out. The sidewalk ran all the way across the front and down the side, so we ended up spending two full days out here. We had neighbors stopping by the whole time, and almost none of them knew there was a sidewalk there at all.
