FAMILY IN BANJA LUKA: our spontaneous weekend plans in BANJ BRDO and KASTEL

Hola amigos! Veliki pozdrav! The moment we see it'll be a sunny day, we are out immediately after breakfast. We are early risers and take the chance that people like to take things slower on the weekends so we made sure to take the first bus ride up Banj Brdo which is a beautiful hill/mountain in the outskirts of Banja Luka. The bus only runs during warm seasons, on Saturdays and Sundays, leaving every hour. The ride takes 15-30 minutes and likes half past the hour back down. Now that summer is almost here, the amount of events going on in the city (for kids and adults) gives us options to choose from. The promoting of these is not the best so you really have to check what is going on that specific day. We found that a celebration for May 9 Day of Europe was taking place in the Kastel (Banja Luka Fortress) so we headed there after lunch as they had lots of activities for kids with a medieval vibe. Another place we love in the city is the are where the 'Green Bridge' is; a cafe called River is there as well as a small container bar called Pablo. It's perfect to chill by the rivers and loads of playing area for kids.
