For decades, we've heard that vegetable oils are "healthier" than butter or lard. Excess heated omega-6, on the other hand, generates toxic aldehydes (such as 4-HNE) that damage neurons and impair autophagy. 📌 In metabolic health, reducing the omega-6/omega-3 ratio improves triglycerides, ApoB, oxidized LDL, and systemic inflammation. In migraines, diets rich in omega-3 and low in omega-6 reduce the frequency and intensity of attacks. 📌 In inflammatory diseases such as COPD, supplementing with EPA+DHA improves protein balance and promotes lean mass gain. And the heart? The literature is mixed, but the REDUCE-IT study showed that high doses of purified EPA reduced cardiovascular events in high-risk patients. 👉 How to correct this in practice? • Reduce industrialized seed oils. • Use natural fats such as butter, lard, and olive oil. • Consume 2–4 servings of oily fish per week or 2–4 g/day of EPA+DHA. • Prefer supplements in the form of natural triglycerides or phospholipids, of high purity and low oxidation. Your body wasn't made to live flooded with vegetable oil.
