Si escuchás la turbina de un avión argentino, no mires para el cielo | Serie "Voces de Malvinas"
Luis Alberto Cervera, known as "El Tucu," tells how he learned to enjoy the vertigo and speed while cycling down San Javier Hill in Tucumán. After several falls, he decided to build wings for his bike... and he never fell again. His passion for airplanes led him to enter the Military Aviation School and become a fighter pilot. He participated in the Falklands War as part of the 5th Fighter Air Brigade. In this episode, he recounts his May 24 mission against the British fleet in the San Carlos Strait, piloting an A-4B Skyhawk aircraft. He explains how they flew low over the water to avoid enemy radar and why the bomb he dropped on the ship Sir Lancelot didn't explode... even though he managed to put it out of action. He was able to complete the mission and dodge enemy shells, missiles, and bombs. A true story of discipline, courage, ingenuity, and love of country. A powerful account of the Falklands War and the courage of the Argentine pilots. About the series "Voices of the Falklands" "Voices of the Falklands" is a series of short documentaries in which Argentine veterans share their combat experiences and reflect on the impact of the 1982 conflict on their lives. Through firsthand accounts, the living memory of soldiers, non-commissioned officers, and officers from the various forces involved, from diverse social, cultural, and geographical contexts, is reconstructed. Each episode is a profound and personal first-person account of the experiences of a protagonist of the war. These are the voices of compatriots, tested in combat, who have much to tell us about who we Argentines were, are, and can be. The short films are produced from in-depth interviews conducted within the framework of the action-research project "Voices of the Malvinas. Archive of the Combatants' Memories," hosted by the Malvinas Observatory, part of the Research and Postgraduate Secretariat of the National University of Lanús. This is a collective and federal project carried out in collaboration with educational institutions, public agencies, social organizations, veterans' and family members from different regions of the country. This is an audiovisual record of the testimonies of the Argentine protagonists of the 1982 war, their study and preservation for future generations of Argentines. In addition, a photographic record is made of war artifacts preserved by combatants (letters, notes, logbooks, clothing, remains of war material, holy cards, rosaries, photos). Everything produced is incorporated into the collection of the General Archive of the Nation and the repositories of the participating institutions. The interviews are periodically published on the YouTube channel ( / @vocesdemalvinas . The short films in the series are produced by various teams that make up the "Voces de Malvinas" network. Many of them are the work of Multimedia Arts students from the National University of the Arts, and others are the work of Audiovision students from the National University of Lanús. Senate TV, among other institutions, also participates in the production of the short films. This interview was conducted on August 12, 2022 at the National University of Lanús.
