Returning to My Family’s Ancestral Village in China

This was one of the most emotional and meaningful journeys I’ve ever taken. I traveled with my mom to Yuhuai Village in Taishan, China, the place where our family roots run deep. What started as a search for our heritage turned into something truly unforgettable — we found my great-grandparents’ original home, still standing, though abandoned and weathered by time. Even more incredibly, we met distant relatives still living in the village who welcomed us like family. Walking the same paths my ancestors once walked, standing in the same house they lived in — it was a surreal, powerful moment of connection.
