Exploring Quinag, One Of Scotland's Most Underrated Mountains!
For this adventure we were back in the far North of Scotland in beautiful Assynt. This is one of our favourite areas and the fifth time we've been here. Having previously done Suilven and Stac Pollaidh in this area, Quinag had been on our hit list for quite a while. However, after being thwarted on our two previous attempts, this year the weather was finally in our favour and we were ready for an assault on the mountain. Quinag has three separate named peaks on the map, none of these are massive when it comes to height, all being short of Munro status, but don't be fooled by that, this is not a mountain to be taken lightly as we were soon to discover. These are three Corbetts that really pack a punch. Our hike consisted of multiple summits, sharp ridges and some incredible sandstone pinnacles. The Torridon Sandstone in this area really is wonderful to walk on and it also creates some amazing rock formations. With quite frankly staggering views out over Assynt and the Scottish Highlands this walk really did have a bit of everything and it will be one we remember for a very long time.
