Spring hike on Monte Verena, amidst abundant snow and breathtaking views. ❄️ An unusual climb along recently closed ski slopes, with views of the Piccole Dolomiti and the Folgaria Plateau. This time we're heading to the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni, in the Roana area, to repeat the climb up Monte Verena, along the panoramic route that coincides with a downhill ski slope. From here, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Piccole Dolomiti and the Folgaria Plateau. It was an unusual hike: it took place on ski slopes that had just closed after the winter season, right during the first warm start of spring 2024, with temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius on the plains and rapid snowmelt. With about 370 meters of elevation gain, it's a relatively short hike, but with a very steep final section (the initial ramp used by skiers after the ski lift). This week's hike takes me to Monte Verena, in the Asiago Plateau area, for a second ascent, this time along a panoramic route following a former ski slope. From here you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Little Dolomites and the surrounding plateau. It was a unique hike, taking place just after the ski season ended, during the first warm spell of spring 2024, with temperatures reaching 30°C in the lowlands and rapid snow melting. With around 370 m of elevation gain, it's a relatively short hike, but the final stretch is quite steep—a section originally used as a launch ramp for skiers after the lift.
