Before the Rocafella/State Property days, it was ICE CITY! A rap crew out of the gutters of North Philadelphia that consisted of FREEWAY x PEEDI CRAKK x INDY 500 x HYDRO, and more! They put out some classic music that circulated through the underground and was setting fire to the streets. Who knew that years later they would become household names and make it to the national stage. I remember meeting them first at my bro TANA DA BEAST'S crib at a cypher and immediately saying to myself, "These guys are different, way different". There was just something special about the energy they brought to the room and the presence they carried. I knew they were stars even before they started rapping. We kept in touch and they would become some of the founding members of the 2RawForTheStreets movement. Everyone knows the story of their careers and the path Peedi & Freeway had regarding State Property, etc. But, clips like this remind people of where it all began and the hunger & dedication each member had towards their craft.
