Building an Athlete: Rocky’s Full Training Day | Strength, Drills & Obedience We’re not just training a dog. We’re building a rescue. Viking Prairie K9 exists to help people build a better relationship with their dogs through real training, real care, and real education. Our goal is bigger than obedience — we want to start rescuing large breed guardian dogs, pull them out of shelters, train them the right way, and get them back into loving homes where they belong. That’s the mission. That’s why we do this. In this video, you’re getting a full look at how we train Rocky Balboa, our 145-lb Cane Corso and VPK9’s brand ambassador. We simulate dock diving conditions right at home — sprinting down the driveway on a heel, then launching Rocky into the truck bed like it’s the pool. From there we run heel pattern drills and obedience warm-ups, then move into calisthenics and pulling work to build drive and confidence under distraction — starting with just the harness, then a chain, then a heavy tire. Every rep builds the same four things: Control. Respect. Communication. Confidence Through Obedience. We’re just getting started.
