Cane Corso Protection Work: Strength Training, Weight Pull & Back-Tie Work with Rocky Balboa | VPK9

Tomorrow Rocky steps onto the training field at Blackwater K9 for protection work with our decoy. So today, we get him ready. In this video, I walk you through Rocky’s full conditioning session to prepare him for protection work tomorrow — the same gear he wears on the field, strength work to build muscle and stamina, and back-tie pressure work to tap into his natural working drive. This isn’t random exercise. Every rep has a purpose. We start slow — that’s the rule. Distance, duration, and distractions always build over time, never all at once. What we cover in this session: • Warm-ups before any load work • Chain pulls on the back tie to build strength and drive • Back-tie pressure work — teaching Rocky to lean in and work through resistance, tapping into the Cane Corso’s deep-rooted instinct to work, guard, and protect • Calisthenics: squats and push-ups for us both • Heavy tire pulls for full-body conditioning • Cool-down with the hose — safety first, always. No injury risk, no heat exhaustion This is what Confidence Through Obedience looks like in action. We’re not just building muscle — we’re building Control, Respect, and Communication between me and Rocky before he ever meets the decoy. At VPK9, our mission is simple: build dogs who are confident, controlled, and connected to their handler. Every session — obedience, protection, or conditioning — is a step toward that. And every dollar earned from this content moves us closer to our long-term goal: opening a Cane Corso guardian breed rescue. Follow Rocky’s full journey to protection work.
