Let God Set the Tone for Your Day

My brothers and sisters, some mornings seem to begin before our hearts are ready. There are things waiting for us, decisions that need attention, and people who may already need something from us. Before long, pressure can start setting the pace for the whole day. This devotional is a gentle invitation to begin differently. Through Psalm 5:3, we reflect on how David brought his concerns before God in the morning and then waited with an attentive heart. Prayer is not about trying to control every detail of the day. It is about placing what we are carrying into God’s hands and trusting Him to guide us one step at a time. We will also reflect on Mark 1:35–38, Hebrews 4:14–16, Colossians 3:15, and Galatians 5:22–23. As you listen, take a moment to ask yourself: What has been setting the pace within me lately? Has it been the peace and wisdom of God, or have fear, hurry, pressure, and the need to please others been shaping the way I respond? You may want to write down one concern that has been taking up a lot of space in your thoughts. Then write beside it the words of Psalm 5:3: “In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.” After that, ask yourself one simple question: What is mine to do today, and what do I need to leave in God’s hands? You do not have to carry the whole day at once. May God’s presence steady your heart, may His wisdom guide your choices, and may His peace shape the way you move through today.
