SM Teo responds to Leong Mun Wai on public perception of Ridout Road rentals by ministers

Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean on Monday (Jul 3) responded in parliament to NCMP Leong Mun Wai's comments suggesting Ridout Road properties are "relatively cheaper public bungalows” rented by Ministers K Shanmugam and Vivian Balakrishnan. Said Mr Leong: “Don't you think the two ministers should have considered the possibility of negative public perception? Because Singaporeans are already saying the ministers are paid million dollars of salaries. The ministers have private bungalows of their own and they still go and rent a relatively cheaper public bungalow, which however are the three most prestigious bungalows in Singapore and having the government to fork out over a million dollars to reinstate the bungalows before they move in?
