Milano, ecco come sarà Citywave, la grande onda in Citylife pronta (forse) entro fine 2026
MILAN This is how CITYWAVE, the new structure currently under construction in Milan's CityLife district, will present itself, most likely by the end of 2026. The building is already fully recognizable for its iconic, large wave shape that extends in width rather than height, harmoniously integrating without competing with the skyline of the Three Towers. The project consists of two blocks connected by a large suspended roof, known as a 'canopy,' constructed with an innovative wood and steel structure and covered with over 11,000 square meters of solar panels. Inside, CityWave will house approximately 60,000 square meters of cutting-edge office space, integrated with the neighborhood and the surrounding park. At the base of the structure, a new covered plaza will be created, conceived as an open and permeable space, in dialogue with the area's public spaces. This was outlined by designer Bjarke Ingels, in Milan to visit the construction site. Despite being a highly ambitious project, those behind it and the funding have emphasized how CityWave maintains a strong focus on innovation and environmental sustainability. Thanks to the energy produced by the structure's photovoltaic system and the use of high-performance materials, the complex has already obtained several certifications. Construction is therefore progressing, continuing to meet schedule despite the challenges of the pandemic, price increases due to the global war situation, and the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics. Sitemap: Milan, this is what Citywave will look like, the big wave in CityLife, ready (perhaps) by the end of 2026 - YouTube Transcript: (00:01) MILAN This is what City Wave, the new structure currently under construction in Milan's CityLife district, will look like, most likely by the end of 2026. The building is already fully recognizable for its iconic large wave shape that extends in width rather than height, harmoniously integrating without competing with the skyline of the three towers. (00:25) CITYWAVE MILANO The project consists of two blocks connected by a large suspended roof called Canopi, built with an innovative wood and steel structure and covered with over 11,000 m² of solar panels. Inside, City Wave will house approximately 60,000 m² of cutting-edge office space integrated with the neighborhood and the surrounding park. At the base of the structure, a new covered plaza will be created, designed as an open and permeable space that interacts with the area's public spaces. (00:48) CITY LIFE MILANO The project was presented by designer Biarche Ingels in Milan to visit the construction site. The underlying idea was to provide the workspaces with as much paving as possible, so rather than creating a tall tower, we created two European-style blocks with gardens. (01:16) BJARKE INGELS We then joined the blocks with an arch that provides the outdoor space with a 1,400 m2 roof, blocking out the sun and sheltering it from the rain. Despite being a highly ambitious project, those behind it and the funding emphasized how City Wave maintains a strong focus on innovation and environmental sustainability. Thanks to the energy produced by the photovoltaic system that will house the structure and the use of high-performance materials, the complex has already obtained several certifications. The construction site is therefore moving forward, continuing to adhere to the schedule despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic, the price increases due to the global war situation, and the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics. It's a project whose construction represents a complexity that was achieved only after significant studies, attempts, tests, and field trials. Today, the fact that we're able to proceed quickly shows that the team has worked and worked very well.
