The Saint Even the Fish Listened To | St. Anthony of Padua
St. Anthony of Padua is one of the most beloved Catholic saints in the world. Many know him as the patron of lost things, but his life was far greater than that single devotion. Born in Lisbon as Ferdinand, he first entered the Augustinian order. Later, moved by the relics of five Franciscan martyrs, he joined the Friars Minor and desired to give his life for Christ as a missionary in Africa. But illness, a storm at sea, and Divine Providence led him down a very different path. Instead of martyrdom, God gave him the gift of preaching. In this episode, you will hear the story of St. Anthony of Padua: his hidden years, his first sermon, the fish that listened when men would not, the storm of rain that did not touch the faithful crowd, the donkey that knelt before the Blessed Sacrament, the Child Jesus in his arms, and why he became known as the patron of lost things. Feast day: June 13. This story was prepared based on the book “Żywoty Świętych Pańskich na wszystkie dni roku” by Fr. Prokop Kapucyn, published in 1882. St. Anthony of Padua, pray for us. Thank you for walking with us through this story of faith. Until the next saintly journey. #StAnthonyOfPadua #CatholicSaints #PatronOfLostThings #AWhisperOfTheSaints #CatholicFaith #LivesOfTheSaints #CatholicHistory #Saints #ChristianStories #FranciscanSaints
