Restoring the Yellowed Sega Dreamcast- Retro Console Restoration & Repair - ASMR This time I restored the OriginalSega Dreamcast it is quite badly yellowed and dirty both inside and outside. Sega Dreamcast restoration – In this video, I will restore the Dreamcast console released by Sega on November 27, 1998, in Japan. I bought this yellowed console and a game CD from Japan. This is a Japanese version of the console, which can be seen from the red Dreamcast logo. Voltage Rating 110 Voltage, so I used a 220 to 110 adapter to power the console. For the disassembly of the Sega Dreamcast, I used a Phillips screwdriver the holes for the screws were so deep and narrow. so we're gonna start just by opening, so to do so there are four Philips screws located on each of the corners Sega puts a different-sized set of screws in this device, so I am using the fridge cube tray to separate the screws so it's easy to put them back where they can be later. before I work on anything I just turn the power on, it will help discharge some of the built-up current. The power supply here the capacitors can hold power and you don't short anything with a screwdriver or your finger This console has so many different screws that I used an ice cube tray to hold the screws separately. This also helps me to remember what came from where because I can just put everything back together in reversed chronological order. How to Remove Yellow Stains from Plastic Whether they're from foods, sunlight, or chemical reactions, yellow stains often show up on plastic. There are many ways you can try to tackle these stains, such as soaking the plastic in bleach, rubbing alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide Coat the plastic in hydrogen peroxide to fix discoloration. Hydrogen peroxide works well on plastics that have turned entirely yellow instead of in just one spot. Fill a plastic bag with enough hydrogen peroxide to cover the plastic. Stick the plastic in the bag of hydrogen peroxide and lay it out in direct sunlight. Wait 3-4 hours before rinsing it off with clean water.[5] You can purchase hydrogen peroxide at a drugstore or big box store. If you’re treating some sort of plastic mechanism, make sure you remove all the parts that aren’t plastic before putting them into the hydrogen peroxide.
