LISZT PIANO CONCERTO NO 1 GYORGY CZIFFRA 'LIVE' JAPAN 1964
It was Paganini's violin virtuosity that inspired Liszt (the opening double octaves when written as single notes are typical violin figuration). Cziffra's performance here combines virtuosity with sensitivity especially in the Nocturne style slow section and other lyrical parts of this otherwise coruscating concerto. He also brings out the devilish teasing caprice of the scherzo.
