NIGHT OF THE TORNADOES: Florida’s Deadliest Tornado Outbreak

As families across Central Florida drifted to sleep, the atmosphere unleashed one of the deadliest tornado outbreaks in state history. In just three hours, seven tornadoes — three of them violent F3s — ripped across the I-4 Corridor. The devastation was unimaginable: 42 people dead, more than 260 injured, and over 3,000 structures damaged or destroyed. The deadliest single tornado tore straight through Kissimmee, leveling RV parks and entire communities in the middle of the night. Survivors would forever call it the “Night of the Tornadoes.” In this video, we’ll deep dive into the meteorology, the human stories, and the lasting legacy of the 1998 Kissimmee Tornado Outbreak.
