【広島 大雪】山道で1kmバック。立ち往生の夜…｜札幌⇄広島 下道6000km〈第4話〉

Upon retirement, a couple in their 60s embarked on a journey with no set return date. They drove approximately 2,000km from Sapporo to Hiroshima in a Bolero campervan, purchased with their retirement benefits, driving on local roads. The trip was to visit a benefactor. It was January 2nd, New Year's Day, in Hiroshima. On their way back from a sightseeing trip to Sanzoku, on the prefectural border, they encountered an unexpected heavy snowfall. It was a record-breaking cold wave, rare for Hiroshima. Snow piled up on the mountain road, and the bamboo beside the road drooped under the weight, making it impossible to move forward or backward. They were forced to backtrack about 1km down the mountain road and turn back. The road remained closed, and with the return trip coming with the family, a large number of people were stranded. They ended up spending two days stuck in their campervan. Unexpected events are inevitable on a journey. But the time they spend working together to overcome them will surely become one of their travel memories. This wasn't a trip touring tourist spots. There were no flashy productions.
