Italy is often seen as the land of beautiful towns, incredible food, sunshine, and a relaxed way of life. But after living here for almost 25 years, I’ve come to realise there’s another side to Italy that tourists rarely see. In this video, I explore the hidden social pressures that many Italians experience every day—from fare bella figura and family expectations to economic uncertainty and the fear of falling behind. I also explain why these same pressures help create many of the things we all admire about Italy: strong families, beautiful cities, incredible food, and a society that feels deeply human.
