We are the universe remembering itself

I awoke beneath a blackened sky Where dying constellations wept. Ancient fires burned inside my blood, Secrets older than death itself. The cathedral bells of distant stars Rang through the chambers of my bones. And in the silence between heartbeats, I heard the universe come home. I thought I was a lonely ghost, A fragile thing condemned to fade. Until the night pulled back its veil And revealed the mask it made. The dust became the dreamer. The dreamer became the sky. And the sky opened its thousand eyes. I am the cosmos wearing my face, A temporary shape of eternal flame. The stars forgot themselves for a moment, And awakened inside my name. Every sorrow, Every wonder, Every love I’ve failed to save— The universe is looking through me, From the cradle to the grave. A million souls pass through the darkness, Like candles floating on the sea. Each believing they are separate, Each believing they are free. Yet beneath the skin of distance, Beneath every fear and scar, The same abyss is staring outward Through every beating heart. The widow mourning in the moonlight, The child laughing in the rain, The stranger standing at the station— All reflections of the same. The ocean enters every wave. The wave forgets the sea. Until it breaks and finally remembers. I am the cosmos wearing my face, A temporary shape of eternal flame. The stars forgot themselves for a moment, And awakened inside my name. Every sorrow, Every wonder, Every love I’ve failed to save— The universe is looking through me, From the cradle to the grave. The galaxies bloom like black roses. The nebulae bleed into my veins. And somewhere beyond all beginnings There is no “you.” There is no “me.” Only awareness dreaming In countless forms. Only eternity Changing masks. Only the endless observer Watching itself Through shattered mirrors of starlight. We are the cosmos wearing our faces, Fragments of a forgotten sun. The universe divided itself So it could become everyone. Every heartbreak is a question. Every kiss a sacred sign. The stars are learning who they are Through your eyes And through mine. When my body falls to ashes, When my shadow disappears, The atoms will return to heaven. The witness will remain here. Watching. Dreaming. Remembering. The stars were never far away. They were looking at themselves The whole time.
