The color of nothing

I held the edge where silence grows Beyond the stars no daylight knows No heaven burned, no hell remained Only absence without a name The universe removed its skin And showed the hollow place within No black… no white… no fading gray… Just something words cannot convey What color is the space… Before the first light learned to shine? What shade survives… When even darkness dies? I’ve seen the color of nothing It stained the inside of my soul A hue no eye was born to witness A void no heart could ever hold It whispered softly— “Everything you love… …will dissolve beautifully.” So I painted all my memories… With the color of nothing. The moon looked pale beside its face Even shadows lost their place The stars became transparent scars Forgotten wounds on empty dark Every prayer dissolved to dust Every promise turned to rust Meaning floated from my hands Like smoke across abandoned lands Pre-Chorus If emptiness has no reflection… Why do mirrors fear it? I’ve worn the color of nothing Like velvet stitched beneath my skin Every heartbeat fades a little So eternity can enter in I kissed oblivion once… It tasted… Like coming home. They told me nothing… Was empty. They lied. Nothing… Is full. Full of unborn galaxies… Forgotten names… Unwritten songs… The last breath… Before creation… And the first breath… After everything ends. I’ve become the color of nothing The shade between the life and death The ink the universe was holding Before it learned its final breath When every sun has turned to ash When time itself has ceased to pass You’ll find me where existence ends… Smiling… Inside the color… No one… Can see. Close your eyes. Now imagine… The place… Even darkness… Is afraid… To enter.
