McLaren W1: 1258 hp - Most Powerful and Fastest McLaren Ever

The 2024 McLaren W1 is the brand's most powerful and fastest road car, combining an advanced V8 hybrid powertrain, active aerodynamics and Formula 1-inspired design. The McLaren W1 is powered by a new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine. The new engine, called the MPH-8, was created entirely from scratch. It develops 916 horsepower and has the highest output of any McLaren engine ever produced. The V8 engine can reach up to 9200 rpm, which is an extremely high figure. The V8 is combined with a 342 hp electric motor to provide additional torque and power.The total output of the system is 1257 hp and 988 lb-ft of torque (1340 Nm) Thanks to the powerful hybrid system, the W1 can reach 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, but more impressively, the supercar can reach 200 km/h in 5.8 seconds and 186 mph (300 km/h) in less than 12.8 seconds. The top speed is 350 km/h (217 mph). The electric motor can be activated via a boost button on the steering wheel, which releases the full potential of the hybrid system for short, intense bursts of acceleration, similar to that of a Formula 1 car. The W1 uses an 8-speed automatic gearbox that is fine-tuned for both road and track use, ensuring smooth power delivery and rapid shifts under high-performance conditions​ The W1's chassis uses active suspension that adjusts for road or track conditions. The car lowers by 37mm at the front and 17mm at the rear in track mode to enhance handling and aerodynamic efficiency. The car is equipped with active front and rear wings, including a "longtail" rear wing that extends by up to 300mm in race mode. This active aerodynamic system generates up to 1,000 kg of downforce, making the W1 exceptionally stable at high speeds. The W1 uses a 1,4 kWh battery that allows it to travel up to 2.6 miles on electric power. The main purpose of this system is to maintain high productivity, not to travel long distances on electricity. The W1’s hybrid components are 40 kg lighter than those in the P1, despite having nearly double the power output. The compact electric motor and its control unit weigh only 20 kg. The W1's body is built using a carbon fiber monocoque, keeping its weight down to just 1,399 kg (3,083 lbs). This lightweight structure helps it achieve its incredible performance. An 8.0-inch touchscreen on the dashboard features Apple CarPlay and both USB-C and USB-A ports are provided for device connectivity and charging. A Bowers & Wilkins stereo system is also available. The seats are fixed in position, but the driver can adjust the position of the pedals and steering wheel for comfort. Lightweight upholstery called InnoKnit covers most of the interior surfaces and comes in several colors and textures which can be customized through personalization program. Only 399 units of the McLaren W1 will be produced, with each car being fully customizable based on buyer preferences.
