Kuk Sool Kwan Hapkido Intermediate Wrist Defense Techniques: Joong Geup Sohn Mohk Soo 1-10

This video demonstrates part of the joint lock curriculum for purple belt, the 6th geup in Kuk Sool Kwan, as taught under the Huh Mongil branch in California at Ancient Arts Dojang. To aid in study, this video contains both a full speed demonstration as well as a slow demonstration of most techniques for easier reproduction of the movements. This set builds on the first Sohn Mohk Soo (손목수) set introduced at white belt, demonstrating new variations of the original more basic joint locks. Executions that would not have been possible before become accessible to the intermediate geup student because of their increased familiarity. Kuk Sool Kwan is a member kwan of the Korea Hapkido Federation. It was founded in 1962, one year after the founding of Kuk Sool Won in 1961. Both drew on material compiled during the Kuk Sool Hwe, which began in 1958. At the time, the founder of Kuk Sool Kwan, Grandmaster Kim Woo Tak, was a higher dan rank in hapkido than the founder of Kuk Sool Won, Suh In Hyuk, although Suh In Hyuk knew more kung fu (sibpalki). At the time of this video's production, Grandmaster Michael Dunchok was a 7th dan in the Kuk Sool Kwan and a 7th dan in the Korea Hapkido Federation.
