Camorra a Torre del Greco: 35 Arresti per il Clan Falanga

From father to son, the Torre del Greco Camorra had rebuilt all its businesses: racketeering and slot machine operations. To hide and avoid asset seizures, it had used the cover of the blue jersey, a Napoli football club that was seized. This morning, the District Anti-Mafia Directorate launched a raid, carried out by officers from the Torre del Greco police station. Thirty-five pre-trial detention orders have been issued, 23 of which were handed over to suspects already detained for other crimes. The charges range from racketeering to Camorra association, and all the top figures of the clan founded by Giuseppe Falanga, aka Peppe 'o Struscio, are in the crosshairs. The organization was headed by his son Domenico, who had implicated his wife Carmela Cangiano and all his cousins: Domenico Gaudino, Salvatore Gaudino, and Aniello Pompeo. The racket was systematically imposed on merchants and pharmacists; in some cases, raids were even organized inside clubs that had video poker machines not provided by managers close to the clans. Magistrates from the District Anti-Mafia Directorate have a torrent of wiretaps and environmental wiretaps, as well as the statements of two informants who revealed the organization's secrets.
