JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - Rieke Diah Pitaloka, a member of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) faction of the House of Representatives (DPR), expressed her deepest apologies on the ROSI program for her perceived lack of response to the demonstrations that took place in August 2025. "For me, a citizen's life cannot be exchanged for anything," she said. Rieke also met with the protesters who expressed their demands on Thursday (September 4, 2025), one of which was voiced by Abigail Limuria, Co-Founder of What Is Up Indonesia. Abigail expressed her appreciation for the meeting. However, she had hoped that DPR representatives would have met with the protesters at previous demonstrations. In fact, the government shouldn't have waited for a demonstration and should have made improvements long ago. Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Veronica Tan, expressed her condolences to the victims of the demonstrations that took place in August 2025. Some children were among the victims.
