JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - Roy Suryo's attorney, Abdul Gafur Sangaji, outlined several reasons for his pretrial motion ahead of the first hearing at the South Jakarta District Court on Monday (June 29, 2026). He argued that Roy Suryo's arrest allegedly did not comply with the provisions of the new Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) or Police Regulations regarding criminal investigations. He questioned the urgency of the arrest, which was allegedly carried out without a prior summons, and alluded to the alleged violation of the right to privacy in law enforcement. On the same occasion, Abdul Gafur Sangaji also explained the parties named as respondents and co-respondents in the pretrial motion, including the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Directorate of General Crimes, investigators from the State Security Sub-Directorate, and the prosecutor's office to complete the formal aspects of the motion. Meanwhile, Roy Suryo emphasized that he had just completed his mandatory reporting at the South Jakarta District Prosecutor's Office before attending the first pretrial hearing.
