Julie Adams Interview! Classic Westerns, riding James Stewart’s horse and her two films in 3-D!

Julie Adams starred with James Stewart in director Anthony Mann’s classic, BEND OF THE RIVER. The beautiful and talented Universal contract player worked both on and off the lot but loved going on location to Bend, Oregon, with Stewart and the cast and crew of the 1952 western. Julie enchanted a crowded room at The Autry Museum in September 2014, with stories of being one of Hollywood’s busiest and most popular actresses. She made three westerns with cult director Budd Boetticher, including one in 3-D, WINGS OF THE HAWK. Maybe Julie’s biggest claim to fame is her sexy underwater “dance” with THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, also in 3-D. Julie (Oct 17, 1926-Feb 3, 2019) began her acting career as Betty Adams in a series of six ultra-low budget B westerns starring two former Hopalong Cassidy sidekicks, Russell Hayden and James Ellison. All six films were shot in four weeks! Under contract to Universal, she became Julia, before settling on Julie for the remainder of her career. She lived to the age of 92 and was able to meet and greet her many fans. Julia had been married to actor/director Ray Danton.
