Nature's Neighbor - Ponyboy

Mike from Nature’s Neighbor performs “Ponyboy” the opening track from their 2018 acoustic record Jade. Well, here we go again. Another year another video. I hope this one finds you all well. I finally got around to doing a proper snow video and I think this song matches the scenery quite well. This song was written back sometime in 2016 or 2017 when I was living in the North Side of Chicago. It’s a sullen track with some pretty good imagery for a NN song. I think the Jade record is one of our overlooked gems. (see what I did there?) It’s the first in NN’s Singer Songwriter trilogy which consists of Jade, Wind City Airport and Projection, and it’s filled with lots of beautiful sparsely layered tracks that I think have aged quite well. I admit there may be a bit too much hallway reverb on a few vocal takes on the album, and that’s why I’m keeping the vocals bone dry on this version. This is my first video using my newly acquired RE20 microphone which sounds better than any vocal mic I’ve ever used. I love it. Anyway, sorry for the month-long delay in my YouTube output, but I do have some serious plans for you all this year and I hope you all stick around to see them play out.
