This video #12 focuses on ironing of Hammer Felts. Using a special tool, this compresses the felt on hammers uniformly and can improve tone. In some instances it can lessen the effect of smaller indents in the felts, eliminating or reducing the need to sand the hammers/felts. Be patient, because good results take time.
