Taking a Close Friend for a Ride

The plaintiff says he has known the defendant for 20 years and cannot believe their friendship has ended in a lawsuit. He claims he loaned the defendant his car, and the defendant got into an accident, damaged another vehicle, received a ticket and never told him about any of it. He says he only discovered the situation after the city towed his car because of unpaid fines and fees that had accumulated over the past two and a half years. He is suing for the amount he says he is owed. The defendant says he was never aware of receiving a ticket while driving the plaintiff’s car. As for the alleged accident, he insists there was none.
