Two young rangers are out with a group of visitors in the sweltering heat, planning to spend the night in the middle of this primeval forest. No tents, just pure nature. Steffi and Sascha have a completely different experience: they've built comfortable lodges with saunas and panoramic views on the edge of the national park and want to attract tourists to this wonderful hiking area year-round. Manuel Schweiger, the new young national park director, inspires himself and others with the ancient trees in "his" Kellerwald: a natural treasure that has been honored with the highest distinction of being a "World Heritage Site." Even former opponents of the national park, who made their living from forestry, now say: this primeval forest in the heart of Germany is a stroke of luck, and preserving and protecting it is worthwhile! The series "World Wonders in Hesse" visits attractions that have UNESCO World Heritage status and explores what makes them such popular tourist destinations.
