Cycling Germany Alps Toblach Sterzing 07 09 2020

The weather is still dry when I get up. A lot of rain has been forecast so I first break down the tent before I have some breakfast. When I'm ready to leave it starts to drip. I wait for a while until it gets a bit drier and I leave at nine. The first part I follow the cycle route to Bruneck. This is nicely paved and mainly descends. Bruneck is very busy. I follow the puter valley to Mühlbach. There the route turns north and I have to climb again. At fortezza I get on the cycle route to the Brenner pas. From the Italian side, this one is completely a cycle route separated from the busy traffic. However, the road goes up and down and occasionally quite steep to 15%. Sometimes it starts to rain again but the weather is better than predicted. Finally I arrive at sterzling at 1700. The campsite is located near another village Gasteig. It is a great campsite. For 9 euros a nice field in the forest. There are also drying facilities so I can do the laundry again. 85 km and 1000 meters difference in altitude.
