PROJECT 1918 Episode 5 | What Remains After 108 Years

In this episode, the restoration team digs deeper into the M1917 Tank and Nash Quad. A century old differential is opened up, original fuel tanks are inspected, and engine rebuilding efforts move closer to reassembly. Get a closer look at the two vehicles we are restoring for PROJECT 1918: The Nash Quad 4x4 Ammunition Carrier and the M1917 6-ton Light Tank, both built in 1918. As restoration work continues, the team removes armour, restores drivetrain components, fabricates missing parts, and discovers what remains after more than 100 years. You'll also meet Clarence Lane, a former Regimental Sergeant Major of the Royal Canadian Hussars, who shares stories from his military service and connection to Canada's armoured heritage. This episode's history segment explores the story of the Jeffrey Quad Armoured Car and its service with Canada's Motor Machine Gun Brigades during the First World War. 0:00 Opening 0:38 Nash Quad Differential Inspection 2:21 Original Hardware and Safety Wire 4:02 Removing the Tank Armour 7:00 Fuel Tank Restoration Challenges 9:50 Engine Rebuild Update 13:48 Meet Clarence Lane 22:38 Fabricating Missing Components 24:23 Hub and Seal Restoration 25:20 Cleaning Century Old Parts 26:18 Rear Drive Gear Restoration 28:06 History Segment: The Jeffrey Quad Armoured Car 33:20 Closing Support Project 1918 You can enlist in PROJECT 1918 by supporting the restoration on Patreon.
