"Es ist eine Religion – Risiken der Windenergie" - M. Haferburg, G. Frank, J. Dengler, K. Klapproth

Panel discussion with Manfred Haferburg, Gunter Frank, Joachim Dengler, and Kay Klapproth On July 12, the citizens of Heidelberg will decide whether a wind farm with up to seven wind turbines, each approximately 260 meters tall, should be built in the forest near Lammerskopf. Supporters of the project—primarily the City of Heidelberg and parts of the local press—are campaigning intensively for its expansion. To inform the public about the background and risks of the planned facilities, the Initiative for Democracy and Enlightenment (IDA) invited engineer and energy expert Manfred Haferburg to give a lecture on June 16, 2026: “Energy Transition – A Never-Ending Horror or a Horror End?” Following the lecture, Manfred Haferburg, IDA city councilor and physician Dr. Gunter Frank, physicist and climate expert Dr. Joachim Dengler, and IDA board member and biologist Dr. Kay Klapproth discussed fundamental questions of energy policy, the planned wind turbines in the Heidelberg forest, and their economic and environmental consequences.
