Cape Caution Almost Stopped Us

Cape Caution is the first real test on the Inside Passage. This is ours. After days storm-stuck in Blunden Harbour, we finally got our weather window. But before we even cleared the harbour — rope around the rudder. Then Ripple Passage turned us back with eye-level waves. We anchored at Skull Cove and waited for one more shot. The next morning we crossed. Six foot swells, open ocean, no other boats except a grain tug. Sam got seasick. Kaden drove the whole thing. Then Fitz Hugh Sound opened up flat and glass and we just kept going all the way to Shearwater. First open ocean crossing on a 1970 wooden trawler.
