Musical Documentary of the Teko Guarani Group, of the Mbyá-Guarani People (Porto Alegre/RS) The documentary is part of the Sonora Brasil Project within the theme "The music of the original peoples". The recording was filmed in August 2021 and showcases the musicality of the Teko Guarani group, representing the Mbyá Guarani ethnic group, present in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The Teko Guarani group is located in the Tekoa Anhetenguá village, in Lomba do Pinheiro, Porto Alegre, where 35 Mbyá-Guarani families live. It is a children's and youth choir characterized by its vocal strength and brilliance. They use the mbaraká, a five-stringed guitar, where each string represents a Mbyá deity: Tupã, Kuaray, Karaí, Jakairá, and Tupã Mirim. The ravé (violin/fiddle) has three strings and, according to some accounts, is an instrument of indigenous invention, later perfected by the juruá (non-indigenous people). The mbaraká miri (rattle) and the angu’á pú (drum) have essential functions in sustaining the musical tempo and rhythm, in addition to their importance in establishing a connection with the deities. Members: Chief José Cirilo Pires Morínico, Maria Eugênia Ramos, Patricia Ramos Morinico, Verá Mirim Nunes Morinico, Jerá Mirim Duarte Morinico, Arnildo Gonçalves, Joanita Espindola Gonçalves, Estela Espindola Gonçalves, Maria de Fátima Morinico, Valentina Morinico, and Sérgio Ramos Morinico.
